(INDIAN COUNCIL OF AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST)

National Eligibility Test (NET) is a qualifying examination for determining eligibility for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) and other Agricultural Universities (AUs). Candidates clearing the National Eligibility Test will be eligible to apply for the post of Lecturers or Assistant Professors in the SAUs/AUs. NET certificates will be issued by the ASRB to the qualified candidates to enable them to apply against vacancies to be notified or advertised by the State Agricultural Universities/Agricultural Universities. SAUs/AUs will satisfy themselves with regard to fulfillment of prescribed eligibility condition/criterion for requisite posts of Lecturers/Assistant Professors including authenticity of the NET Certificate in the possession of the candidates

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

A candidate must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in the concerned Discipline and specialization completed on or before 21.02.2016 from any Indian University incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or he/she must have qualification from a foreign University recognized as equivalent by the Government of India (GoI).

AGE LIMIT:

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years as on 01.08.2015. There is no upper age limit for the National Eligibility Test.

NO. OF ATTEMPT:

The number of attempts for appearing in the National Eligibility Test will be limited to FIVE for all candidates (whether M.Sc. /Ph.D.) including the in-service candidates of ICAR. However, this restriction will not apply to SC and ST candidates, who are otherwise eligible. An attempt will be one when the candidate actually appearing at the Examination. Mere applying for and not appearing for the Examination will not amount to an Attempt.

Note:- The number of attempts made by the candidates prior to National Eligibility Test Examination –2012 will not be taken into account for counting the number of attempts made.

DETAILED PLAN OF EXAMINATION:

  • There will be one paper of 150 marks consisting of 150 objective type multiple choice questions.
  • Each question carries one mark.
  • The time allotted for the examination is 2 hours.
  • 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer
  • The total marks obtained will be rounded off to the next higher integer in case of 0.5 and above and to the immediate lower integer in case of 0.4 and below.
  • The Examination will be conducted in Online format at the designated Centres.
